Hi all, we wanted to splash this one on the front page to kick off our latest update. This represents one of the best ways to get into 911R ownership without having to break the bank.
More often than not those who fancy the R as a project typically have their own 911 and undergo many months of work to transform their cars at considerable expense. What we have here for you is a superb opportunity to shortcut the longest part of the process and buy in right at the end.
The car is a very late 69 (long wheel base) 912 model (the 4 cyl 911) which has been converted to R specifications. The car is without engine and gearbox but otherwise complete. To complete would require you to pick any 911 engine from across the eras. Typically this could be an early 2.2 or 2.4 but taking the more modern route both the 3.2 and 3.6 engine would really breathe life into this project. (though 3.6 levels of power often push the limits of suspension and brakes) we think this car would really sing sweetly with a 2.4 or 3.2. We can probably source you a strong 2.2 which would be an excellent choice.
The car is in outstanding physical condition with all the right R modifications such as the centre fill tank. It currently has the 912 engine mounts (you could fit a fat vw engine if you wanted) but if you want to make it into a 911 we can supply it with the 911 engine mounts.
£10000 gets you the project. We estimate you would get an engine and box into the car for another £5k making the total spend for a superb R in around the bargain £15k price. Take a look at the market for these cars (you wont find one for sale) - and the restoration costs alone would easily touch £20k - so jump in and enjoy the summer in a classic R.
